So which one wins? There's no universal winner. If you want the smoothest app experience for a single switch, Lutron is great. If you're wiring up a whole house or a commercial space and cost and flexibility matter, I usually point people toward Leviton. Take that for what it's worth.
When I first started installing smart switches, I assumed every smart switch needed a neutral. That's true for a lot of models, but not all. Leviton has a few no-neutral dimmers that run on the existing wiring. Sounds great, and sometimes it is.
Here's the catch: the no-neutral option is usually for dimmers, not switches. A standard smart switch still needs a neutral in most cases. And some older homes have neutral wires in the fixture box but not in the switch box. So check before you order.

For most Leviton motion sensor switches, the controls are straightforward. You'll have a TEST or OFF mode, a TIME button, and possibly a sensitivity dial. Use the TIME button to cycle through the preset auto-off intervals. If a longer time is available, pick that. The sensitivity dial, if your model has one, decides how much motion the sensor needs before it triggers.
My tip: set the time delay, then leave the room for that full time. When you come back, the light should turn on without you waving your arms like an airport ground crew. Just give it a few seconds.
This one comes from a personal fail. I installed a smart switch, flipped the breaker on, and got nothing. The switch was fine. The wiring was fine. The problem was a bad ground that I hadn't tested before starting.
Grab a multimeter and set it to AC volts. Put one probe in the hot slot (the shorter one) and the other in the neutral slot (the taller one). You should see about 120 volts in North America. Then move the neutral probe to the ground slot. You should see roughly the same voltage.
If hot-to-ground is much lower than hot-to-neutral, you might have a floating or bad ground. If hot-to-neutral reads zero, the circuit is dead. Don't swap in a new switch and hope for the best. Verify the outlet first.
Short answer: not directly, and please don't try.
A Rain Bird control panel and most irrigation controllers use 24V AC for the valve solenoids. That's low-voltage. A 120V Leviton smart switch is a line-voltage device. If you connect that switch to a low-voltage circuit, you'll likely fry the controller. I've seen the smoke.
If you're trying to add smart control to irrigation, keep the controller powered normally and use a smart relay or a listed low-voltage interface. If you need to control a pump, use a switch or relay rated for the pump's voltage and amperage. Don't just guess based on the plug size.
Solar backup is showing up in more and more homes. If you're connecting a solar inverter, battery, or generator to your electrical panel, you need some form of transfer switch. A standard Leviton wall switch is not a substitute for an automatic transfer switch.
With solar, an automatic transfer switch can detect when the grid drops and move critical loads to battery or generator. Before choosing one, think about:
